50/50 Review
50/50 Review
By Ryan Casey
As you can imagine Cancer is not a theme you would most commonly associate with comedy. However, 50/50 has decided to tackle this tricky subject by coming at it from a humorous angle. The film is based on a true story, although whether it can successfully make light entertainment of such a gloomy subject matter was always going to be a difficult one.

Dark Shadows Review

What’s that? A new Tim Burton film that stars Johnny Depp in a quirky but lovable lead role and generally featuring Helena Bonham Carter somewhere? Nah surely you can’t be serious? Well, I am. Dark Shadows, a remake of an old TV show is yet the newest installment of the emo themed Tim Burton and guess what? It’s exactly like all his other movies.

Ted Review

Creator of ‘Family Guy’ and ‘American Dad’, Seth MacFarlane makes his cinematic directorial debut with his adult comedy Ted. Being a massive fan of the previously mentioned TV shows, I must admit I wasn’t sold on this one after watching the trailer. The Sweeney Review
The Sweeney Review

Three decades on from the gritty police series, The Sweeney gets a revival, this time for the big screen. Starring Ray Winstone and Ben Drew (AKA Plan B) the film certainly carries acting clout. However, with Nick Love sitting in the director’s chair, doubt set in that The Sweeney would just consist of cockney geezas having fights, singing ‘Forever Blowing Bubbles’, calling each other ‘MUGS!’ and Danny Dyer generally just existing, which is annoying. Finger crossed this wasn’t the case.

21 Jump Street Review

Based on the 80′s TV show that launched Johnny Depp, 21 Jump Street is given a modern day face lift, this time starring Jonah Hill & Channing Tatum. The film has very similar comedy style to that of ’Superbad’, another of Jonah Hill’s most famous roles. I watched this movie on a long flight to America and within minutes I noticed I’d forgotten I was wearing headphones and was annoying everyone in my section of the plane with my loud laughter.
Men in Black 3 Review
Men in Black 3 Review
By Ryan Casey
Fifteen years since the sci-fi hit ‘Men in Black’ and ten years on from the un-inspiring sequel, Barry Sonnenfeld resumes his role as director, with Agent K (Tommy Lee Jones) and Agent J (Will Smith) donning the suits for the third instalment of a somewhat aged movie franchise. Despite the hype, my expectations for this one were less out of this world and more down to earth.
