Snow White and the Huntsman Review

There is no questioning that Snow White and the Huntsman is a bold and innovative re-imagining of the old fairy tale of Snow White. However, would its beautiful style and superb special effects be enough to revitalise a story that we are all too familiar with.
The Real Avengers – Captain America
Captain America the first Avenger is the first of our ‘Real’ Avengers parodies. A homophobic gun-toting Christian super soldier, our Captain America is unfortunately the living example of the American stereotype.

Cabin in the Woods Review
Cabin in the Woods Review

Horror movies are unfortunately most often than not, ridiculous and this usually results in filmmakers intentionally spoofing the genre. With examples of mainstream horror parodies such as ‘Mars Attacks’ and the ‘Scream’ series, director Drew Goddard and writer Joss Whedon’s Cabin in the Woods is the latest high profile excursion into this satirical realm.

At face value Cabin in the Woods offers no major variations to the standard plot of your average slasher movie. Five varying teenage stereotypes; Curt the jock (Chris Hemsworth), Marty the stoner (Fran Kranz), Jules the slut (Anna Hutchinson), Holden the nerd (Jesse Williams) and Dana the innocent virgin (Kristen Connelly) head out on a weekend trip to an isolated cabin in the woods.
Avengers Assemble Review
Avengers Assemble Review

To say I was excited about the release of Avengers Assemble would be an understatement. As well as working solidly on our parody of the film, I was really keen to see this movie. However, despite the united efforts of everyone’s favourite Marvel heroes, the lack luster individual on screen adaptations such as Captain America, and especially The Incredible Hulk were still fresh in my mind and so I wasn’t completely sold on the exciting trailers and viral marketing.

As these comic book stories go the plot is pretty simple. An evil doer wants to take over the world with an army of alien invaders. This time, like the original ‘Avengers’ comic, the villian is Loki (Tom Hiddleston), God of Mischief and brother to the heroic Thor (Chris Hemsworth). Together with the likes of Captain America (Chris Evans), Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) and The Hulk played by newcomer to the Marvel franchise Mark Ruffalo, it’s up to these heroes to unite and defend the planet and in the words of Iron Man, ‘if we can’t protect the Earth, you can be damn sure we’ll avenge it’.
