The Expendables 2 Review
By Ryan Casey
When Sylvester Stallone’s vision to unite the world’s most distinguished, somewhat long in the tooth action heroes was met in 2010 with ‘The Expendables’, the film’s commercial success almost guaranteed a sequel. Here we are in 2012 and The Expendables 2 has arrived, this time with even more action geriatric ass kickers . It’s Safe to say I was in no way relishing the prospect of watching a bunch of old granddads limping around in berets for 90 minutes…………again.

The Woman in Black Review
The Woman in Black Review
By Ryan Casey
Thanks to Hammer, the resurgent masters of horror, The Woman in Black, previously a terrifying theatre production receives the silver screen treatment. This movie certainly seemed to offer a psychological scare fest that would no doubt effect me with a nervous disposition for weeks. Due to my juvenile wimpishness when it comes to horror, I would have been quite glad if The Woman in Black failed to deliver on it’s potential. I wasn’t so fortunate. Read the rest of this entry
50/50 Review
50/50 Review
By Ryan Casey
As you can imagine Cancer is not a theme you would most commonly associate with comedy. However, 50/50 has decided to tackle this tricky subject by coming at it from a humorous angle. The film is based on a true story, although whether it can successfully make light entertainment of such a gloomy subject matter was always going to be a difficult one.

Sinister Review
By Ryan Casey
The producers of ‘Paranormal Activity‘ and ‘Insidious’ bring you their latest psychological horror in the shape of Sinister. The movie, starring Ethan Hawke, definitely seemed to have the potential to create a thoroughly unsettling, watch it through the gap in your hand sort of experience. Although given the producers track record, I was sceptical as to whether it would fulfil on its early promise.

In an attempt to find inspiration, struggling True-Crime novelist Ellison Oswalt (Ethan Hawke) moves his family to a house whose previous occupants had been ruthlessly murdered in their back garden. Upon discovering sickening footage of the murder taking place, Oswalt becomes obsessed with unearthing the truth behind this terrible crime, an obsession that locks his family in a terrifying supernatural chain of events that they may not be able to escape.
The Sweeney Review
The Sweeney Review
By Ryan Casey
Three decades on from the gritty police series, The Sweeney gets a revival, this time for the big screen. Starring Ray Winstone and Ben Drew (AKA Plan B) the film certainly carries acting clout. However, with Nick Love sitting in the director’s chair, doubt set in that The Sweeney would just consist of cockney geezas having fights, singing ‘Forever Blowing Bubbles’, calling each other ‘MUGS!’ and Danny Dyer generally just existing, which is annoying. Finger crossed this wasn’t the case.
Men in Black 3 Review
Men in Black 3 Review
By Ryan Casey
Fifteen years since the sci-fi hit ‘Men in Black’ and ten years on from the un-inspiring sequel, Barry Sonnenfeld resumes his role as director, with Agent K (Tommy Lee Jones) and Agent J (Will Smith) donning the suits for the third instalment of a somewhat aged movie franchise. Despite the hype, my expectations for this one were less out of this world and more down to earth.
